I first came across Glen Hansard from his Irish band "The Frames" and then I saw the movie with him and Markéta Irglová called "Once" which absolutely blew me away. They have a very strong 'Damien Rice' vibe but it's the simplicity and emotion of the songs that make this so powerful. Glen sent this to Brian Eno who sent it back and said to release it rough & raw. Good decision. This one is going to grow old with me. Need I say more?
Favourite songs for me are "This Low", "Sleeping", "Falling Slowly" and "Leave"
Highly recommended.
