Another slickly produced Livingston effort, this disc has quite a few covers (Dance With Me, Dancing in the Street, Marie) and it was clearly another attempt by Columbia/Epic to break Livingston out of the "folky singer/songwriter" category. It's a fun record, but by no means his best. That doesn't mean that it's not a lost classic, however. The players include such studio stalwarts as Larry Carlton, Steve Cropper(!), Russ Kunkel and The Memphis Horns assisting, and they play like the pros they are. Even Jeff Baxter from Steely Dan joins in with some production and keyboard assistance. And when you hear Carla Thomas in the mix, you know that a lot of time and care went into this disc. Yes, it's slick but it's great fun, and along with 3-Way Mirror it presents a great time in Livingston's recording career.
