Sleaford Mods — Austerity Dogs: Reviews

Important British band.....

01.01.2016 by Tom Howard (See all user reviews)

If you've been dreaming of a British band that says something meaningful about the miserable post - New Labour Con - Democratic Britain in which we live, then Nottingham's Sleaford Mods are here to help. Basic clunking laptop rhythms and distorted simple bass lines pound away whilst some of the best lyrics I've heard in ages are aggressively (and swearily) spouted. It's treatise on the failure of capitalism, the vacant brand-obsessed consumer culture and the general living standards in Britain today. Akin to The Fall in ethic, if not sound - the more you listen to it, the more it appears that Sleaford Mods have hit upon a formula close to genius. Highly recommended.
